At 1.00pm there will be an ethical fashion show with models walking the green catwalk to display the latest fashions. All will be available to buy.

Welcome to a beautiful garden in the heart of North Yorkshire

Helmsley Walled Garden, the host for the 2008 Helmsley Green Day, is a beautiful five acre walled garden in the heart of North Yorkshire, England. Dating from 1758, and set against the spectacular backdrop of Helmsley Castle in the grounds of Duncombe Park, the garden is gradually being restored to its former glory. Originally built to supply the Duncombe estate with fruit, vegetables and cut flowers, it was abandoned in the 1970’s until, in 1994 extensive restoration was started to bring it back to life as a fully working kitchen garden.

The walls have now been refurnished with fruit trees, including special collections of 52 Yorkshire apples and 34 Victorian vines, and over 250 clematis varieties, and restoration work has been completed on the garden’s centre piece, the Orchid House. Our own naturally produced vegetables, herbs, seasonal fruits and a wide range of plants, including many rare species, are all for sale. Under the magical ruins and ramparts of Helmsley Castle, this is a romantic oasis to sit and picnic or just watch the world go by.

A healing garden offering horticultural therapy and a tranquil environment for those in need. Please come and visit us !

Good Friday 21st March to 31st October daily 10.30am to 5.00pm.
We are closed at the weekends during November 2007 and January 2008
and Christmas Week 21st December 2007 - 3rd January 2008.

Green Day 2008 - Saturday August 16th 10.30am to 5pm
Set in the 5 acres of beautifully landscaped Helmsley Walled Garden.

We are planning loads of things to see and do; come and share in the magical atmosphere of fun and freedom, rest and activity. There will be entertainment and workshops, childrens tea parties in the tepee and for others yoga and cookery demonstrations. A huge variety of things to eat and drink (including cream teas in the Orchid House) will be available.
